The National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Barrister Murtala Aliyu Kankia, has expressed support for the sports development agenda of Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, describing the administration’s commitment to sporting activities as an important avenue for youth development and talent discovery.
Kankia also commended the Emir of Katsina, His Royal Highness, Dr Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, for his efforts to preserve the cultural traditions and historical heritage of the Katsina Emirate.
The APC chieftain made the remarks while extending goodwill to players and stakeholders participating in the 2026 polo season, wishing them successful and safe competitions.
He said Governor Radda’s sustained support for sports was helping to strengthen sporting activities in the state and provide opportunities for athletes to develop their talents and compete at higher levels.
Kankia stressed that sports remained an important tool for youth engagement, discipline, unity and personal development, noting that investment in the sector could provide young people with productive avenues to utilise their abilities.
He equally praised the Katsina Emir for protecting the traditions and historical values of the emirate, describing cultural preservation as a responsibility that should be sustained for the benefit of present and future generations.
According to him, the combination of sports development and cultural preservation could strengthen Katsina State’s identity while creating opportunities to promote tourism, community participation and the state’s heritage among younger generations.
Kankia particularly congratulated participants in the 2026 polo competitions and urged them to uphold sportsmanship, discipline and fair play throughout the season.
He wished the polo players safe matches and a successful 2026 season, while expressing optimism that sustained support for sporting and cultural activities would continue to enhance the development and visibility of Katsina State.
