Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued two kidnapped victims in separate operations in Bassa and Kanam Local Government Areas of Plateau State, as the military intensifies efforts to disrupt terrorist and criminal activities across the state.
According to an official statement signed by Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, the operations were conducted as part of ongoing efforts to deny terrorist elements freedom of action and restore peace and security in the Joint Operations Area.
The statement said troops of Sector 3 deployed in Bassa Local Government Area, acting on credible information about the abduction of Mr Ndubuisi Onuigbo, launched a search-and-rescue operation at about 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
The operation led to the successful rescue of Onuigbo, who was subsequently debriefed by the troops.
Similarly, troops of Sector 2 deployed at Kukawa village in Kanam Local Government Area encountered suspected terrorist elements in the early hours of Wednesday, August 26, while conducting a fighting patrol.
The troops pursued the fleeing terrorists, who abandoned a kidnapped victim, Mallam Sambo Abdullahi, leading to his immediate rescue.
The statement said the two rescued victims had been successfully debriefed and reunited with their families.
The Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops for their professionalism and decisive posture in disrupting criminal activities and proactively restoring peace and security across the operational area.
Dangana also appealed to residents to remain calm and cautious, while urging continued support and cooperation with the troops to enable them to effectively fulfil their mandate of restoring enduring peace in Plateau State.
