Mrs. Hadiza Umar, Director of the Corporate Communications and Media Relations Department at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has received double recognition after being named among Nigeria’s top public relations professionals in the prestigious 2026 PR Power List and unveiled as a cover personality for the Glazia Magazine PR Power List Special Issue.

According to an official signed statement, the recognition came as the definitive annual PR Power List, compiled by GLG Communications in partnership with The Guardian, was unveiled to mark World PR Day. The list celebrates 50 outstanding public relations professionals in Nigeria and the diaspora whose strategic communication efforts have shaped organisations, influenced public discourse and advanced the profession over the past year.

The recognition was further amplified during the exclusive PR Power List Soirée and Awards held at Alliance Française, Ikoyi, Lagos, where Mrs. Umar was surprised with the announcement of her feature on the cover of the Glazia Magazine special edition dedicated to the 2026 PR Power List.

Reacting to the honour, Mrs. Umar expressed gratitude, describing the magazine cover feature as an unexpected and memorable recognition.

“I am deeply humbled and honoured to be recognised on the 2026 PR Power List and to feature on the cover of Glazia Magazine alongside other exceptional industry titans. This milestone is a testament to the enabling environment and visionary leadership of the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, CCIE, which has allowed us to strategically drive the narrative of Nigeria’s digital economy and technological innovation,” she said.

A Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (Chartered), the African Public Relations Association (APRA) and the Institute of Corporate Administration (CICA), Mrs. Umar has built a reputation as one of the country’s leading public sector communications professionals.

Under her leadership, NITDA’s corporate communications and media engagement have amplified key national digital transformation initiatives, including technology and innovation policies, startup development programmes and digital literacy campaigns, helping to position Nigeria as an emerging force in the global digital economy.

The organisers disclosed that the 2026 PR Power List was compiled through a rigorous and independent assessment conducted by an international jury, noting that this year’s honourees represent professionals who are redefining strategic communications and setting new standards of excellence across the industry.
