The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a series of operational successes across several states, including the arrest of suspected armed robbers, cultists, kidnappers and human traffickers, while intensifying investigations into multiple violent attacks and rescue operations.
According to police operational updates, security operatives responded to a series of security incidents across the country over the last 24 hours, leading to arrests, recoveries and the deployment of tactical teams to restore normalcy in affected communities.
In Kebbi State, police commenced investigations into an ambush by armed bandits on a military patrol in Wasagu District, where two Forest Guards were killed and a soldier was declared missing. Rescue efforts are ongoing.
In Kogi State, joint security operatives were deployed to Bakunba Village following an attack by unknown gunmen that left one person dead and four others abducted. Police also responded to a separate attack in Bakumba Community where a resident was shot while his brother was kidnapped. Investigations and bush-combing operations are underway.
Police in Edo State launched investigations into the robbery and murder of a security guard at a shop in Auchi after phones and laptops were stolen from the premises.
In Niger State, detectives are probing separate attacks that claimed the lives of three persons and resulted in the abduction of three children, with rescue efforts continuing.
In Benue State, additional security personnel were deployed to Ondo Ugboju Community in Otukpo Local Government Area after an armed attack left one person dead and several others injured. Governor Hyacinth Alia and the Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, visited the community for an on-the-spot assessment.
In Gombe State, police arrested a suspected armed robber accused of attacking a woman with a pestle before stealing her purse. Officers also apprehended two suspected housebreakers found with 39 master keys and recovered a stolen Toyota Yaris after its owner was attacked and thrown out of the vehicle.
In Ondo State, police arrested two suspected members of the Eiye Confraternity and identified other wanted members of the gang. A separate raid on a suspected criminal hideout led to the arrest of three suspects and the recovery of suspected Indian hemp and other illicit substances.
Police in Bauchi State rescued two four-year-old children unharmed after foiling an alleged abduction attempt and arresting the suspect.
In Anambra State, operatives arrested two suspects for allegedly trafficking an 18-year-old woman to Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, without parental consent. The suspects reportedly confessed to operating a human trafficking network, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
In Ebonyi State, a suspected armed robber was arrested with a locally made double-barrel pistol and a live cartridge, while detectives continue efforts to apprehend other gang members.
In Akwa Ibom State, police rearrested a robbery suspect who allegedly attacked a woman with a dagger during an attempted robbery, while investigations continue to track down fleeing accomplices.
In Imo State, a joint operation involving the police, military and local vigilantes disrupted an ongoing armed robbery in Owerri, leading to the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol.
In Nasarawa State, security operatives launched a manhunt for suspected kidnappers following the abduction of two residents after sporadic gunshots were reported in Bethel City.
Meanwhile, police in Enugu State arrested two suspected members of the Abashie Confraternity and recovered suspected illicit drugs, eight motorcycles and a tricycle abandoned by fleeing gang members.
The Police said investigations are ongoing in all the cases, while tactical and intelligence-led operations have been intensified across the affected states to apprehend fleeing suspects, rescue abducted victims and strengthen public safety.
