Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA have recorded another major operational success, neutralising two suspected Lakurawa terrorists and recovering a cache of arms and ammunition during a coordinated offensive operation in the Sabarumawa axis of Kebbi State.
According to an official signed statement by the Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operation was conducted on 27 June 2026 following credible intelligence that the terrorists were planning an attack on the Sabarumawa community.
Lieutenant Colonel Danja stated that troops of the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion 7 swiftly mobilised to the area and established a tactical ambush along the terrorists’ suspected route in a bid to thwart the planned attack.
He explained that the terrorists were engaged with overwhelming firepower as they approached the ambush position, leading to a fierce gun battle. The superior combat effectiveness of the troops resulted in the neutralisation of two of the terrorists, while others fled into the surrounding forest with gunshot wounds.
The military further disclosed that a follow-up exploitation of the area led to the recovery of a cache of arms and operational items, including AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines, 143 rounds of ammunition and one motorcycle.
The statement reaffirmed that Operation FANSAN YAMMA remains resolute in its mission to protect lives and property while sustaining offensive operations against terrorist and criminal elements operating across the North-West region.
The Joint Task Force also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence to enhance ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
