Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recorded a major operational success against the Lakurawa terrorist group in Kebbi State, recovering a large cache of high-calibre weapons, improvised explosive devices and other combat equipment during a fierce offensive operation.
According to an official signed statement by Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division/Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the operation was conducted on 14 June 2026 in the Dogon Daji general area of Dandi Local Government Area of the state.
The statement disclosed that troops launched a sustained and decisive offensive against the terrorist group, bringing overwhelming firepower to bear on the criminals and forcing them to abandon their positions and flee.
Following the initial engagement, troops aggressively pursued the fleeing terrorists along their withdrawal routes, leading to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, explosives and logistics items abandoned during the retreat.
Recovered items included Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launch tubes, several RPG warheads, multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), two motorcycles used by the terrorists for mobility, battery chargers and other personal effects.
The statement further revealed that all troops involved in the operation emerged unscathed, with no casualties recorded.
The Nigerian Army noted that the successful operation reflects the continued determination of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, to dismantle terrorist and bandit networks operating across the region.
It reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements, denying them freedom of movement and disrupting their activities in order to enhance the safety and security of law-abiding citizens throughout the North-West.
