The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected criminals and recovered a firearm, stolen phones, and other dangerous items during an intelligence-led operation in Keffi Local Government Area of the state.
According to an official signed statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, the operation was triggered by a complaint made at the Keffi Divisional Headquarters on May 30, 2026, by a resident of Kofar Hausa, Keffi, who reported that one Shafiu Abdul-Rauf had unlawfully entered his room and fled with his Android phone after he raised an alarm.
The statement said detectives swiftly launched an investigation that led to the arrest of the principal suspect, Shafiu Abdul-Rauf, and another suspect, Usman Abdulmumuni, both residents of the Mayanka area of Keffi.
During a search of the suspects, police recovered a locally made pistol loaded with one live cartridge, two sharp cutlasses, a knife, two Tecno Android phones, one Itel mobile phone, a bunch of keys, and other items believed to be linked to criminal activities.
The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine the extent of their involvement in other crimes and to facilitate further legal action.
The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the officers for their prompt response and professionalism, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property. He also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts to combat crime across the state.
