The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has strengthened its maintenance capacity in the Benin Sub-Region with the delivery of critical 330kV and 132kV equipment spares and maintenance materials.
The equipment, delivered by TCN’s Project Monitoring Unit (PMU), Abuja, arrived at the Benin Sub-Region on Monday, November 2, 2026, to support routine and emergency maintenance operations across the transmission network.
According to an official statement by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Management, the consignment comprises 330kV and 132kV tripping coils, rapid pressure relays, current transformer (CT) ratio clamps, gantry structures and porcelain insulators.
The company disclosed that the materials had been successfully offloaded and secured in the sub-region’s store, ready for deployment whenever required.
TCN explained that the delivery would enhance the sub-region’s capacity to respond promptly to routine maintenance needs and emergency equipment failures, thereby reducing downtime and improving the reliability of the transmission network.
It added that the availability of the critical spare parts would support more efficient transmission of bulk electricity to the load centres of distribution companies serviced by the Benin Sub-Region.
The intervention forms part of efforts to strengthen maintenance readiness and improve the operational efficiency of Nigeria’s electricity transmission infrastructure.
