Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have recorded major operational gains across the North East theatre, including the foiling of a coordinated terrorist attack, arrest of suspected collaborators and logistics suppliers, rescue of kidnapped victims, and the surrender of a terrorist associate.

According to an official signed statement by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gajibo successfully repelled a large-scale attack launched by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists.

The statement disclosed that the terrorists, who advanced towards the town on motorcycles and armed with support weapons, attempted to infiltrate the area from multiple directions before they were detected by vigilant troops.

Troops reportedly responded with overwhelming firepower, including mortar engagements, forcing the insurgents to retreat in disarray. Following the encounter, troops conducted exploitation operations within the area and recovered ammunition as well as other combat accessories abandoned by the fleeing terrorists. No casualty was recorded among the troops during the operation.

In a related development, troops of Operation HADIN KAI working in collaboration with operatives of the Civilian Joint Task Force arrested two suspected Boko Haram collaborators in Gubio town. The suspects, identified as cattle rearers, are currently in military custody undergoing further investigation.

The statement further revealed that troops acting on credible intelligence provided by a surrendered terrorist associate arrested a suspected logistics supplier, Umar Ahmadu, in Gwoza. Preliminary interrogation reportedly indicated that the suspect had on several occasions supplied materials and other items to terrorist elements operating within the area.

Meanwhile, a 17-year-old family member of a terrorist surrendered to troops along the Gwoza–Limankara axis after reportedly escaping from a terrorist enclave within the Mandara Mountains. Preliminary findings indicated that sustained military offensives and worsening living conditions within the enclave contributed significantly to his decision to surrender.

In another operation, troops intercepted and rescued two male victims who had been kidnapped from Mafa town. The victims reportedly escaped from captivity under poor visibility conditions before they were secured by troops and handed over for medical evaluation and further necessary action.

The Joint Task Force noted that the series of coordinated operations underscored the sustained pressure being mounted against terrorist networks, particularly targeting their mobility, logistics chains, and support structures across the theatre.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations aimed at defeating terrorism, restoring peace, and ensuring lasting security and economic stability across the North East region.
