The Federal Government has signed landmark contract agreements with four construction firms for the execution of major road projects across the country as part of efforts to expand critical infrastructure and drive economic development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The contract signing ceremony, held on Thursday at the Federal Ministry of Works Headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja, marked another significant step in the administration’s commitment to delivering durable and sustainable road infrastructure aimed at improving connectivity, boosting commerce, and enhancing the living standards of Nigerians.
In an official signed statement by Director, Information and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Works, Mohammed A. Ahmed, the Ministry disclosed that the projects were awarded to Messrs J. Patel and Sons Nigeria Limited for the reconstruction of the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road in Kaduna State; Messrs JRB Construction Company Limited for the dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road spanning Oyo and Ogun States; Messrs Truecrete Solutions Limited for the construction of the Osogbo–Ikirun–Akoda Road in Osun State; and Messrs Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited for the construction of the Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road linking Osun and Oyo States.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, CON, FNSE, FNATE, described the projects as strategic national infrastructure designed to stimulate economic activities, improve transportation efficiency, and strengthen national integration.
Umahi stated that the reconstruction of the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road was particularly significant because it formed part of the infrastructure commitments made by President Tinubu during the 2022/2023 electioneering campaigns.
According to the Minister, the present administration remains fully committed to delivering world-class infrastructure capable of standing the test of time through the adoption of modern engineering standards and rigid pavement technology.
“Our vision is to build roads that will last for generations. Under the Renewed Hope administration, we are determined to deliver infrastructure that can serve Nigerians for up to 100 years through the adoption of rigid pavement (concrete) technology,” Umahi stated.
He commended the selected contractors for their competence, experience, and proven capacity, while expressing confidence in the ability of indigenous firms to successfully execute critical national projects.
The Minister particularly praised Messrs JRB Construction Company Limited and Truecrete Solutions Limited for their impressive performances on previous projects across the country.
Umahi further directed all contractors to immediately mobilise to their respective project sites and commence work without delay, stressing that the Ministry expects visible progress within the stipulated timelines.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Rafiu Olarinre Adeladan, who formally signed the contract agreements, described the occasion as the successful completion of the procurement process and the official commencement of project implementation.
He applauded the leadership of the Ministry for ensuring that the projects advanced to execution stage and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to effective monitoring, quality assurance, and timely delivery of all awarded contracts.
Also speaking, the Director of Highways, Construction and Rehabilitation, Mr Clement Ogbuagu, presented details of the contracts, revealing that the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Mando–Birnin Gwari Road in Kaduna State was awarded to Messrs J. Patel and Sons Nigeria Limited at a cost of ₦178.1 billion.
He disclosed that the 114.5-kilometre single carriageway equivalent dualisation of the Ibadan–Ijebu Ode Road in Oyo and Ogun States was awarded to JRB Construction Company Limited for ₦295.9 billion.
Ogbuagu further stated that the 70-kilometre single carriageway equivalent Osogbo–Ikirun–Akoda Road project in Osun State was awarded to Truecrete Solutions Limited at a contract sum of ₦101.8 billion, while the 73-kilometre Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan Road project was awarded to Peculiar Ultimate Concerns Limited for ₦114.8 billion.
According to him, all the projects will be executed using Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) technology in line with the Federal Government’s commitment to constructing durable, cost-effective, and sustainable road infrastructure nationwide.
The ceremony underscored the Federal Government’s determination to modernise Nigeria’s road network and fast-track economic growth through strategic infrastructure investments.
