The Nigeria Police Force recorded significant nationwide operational successes in April 2026, with multiple arrests, rescues, and recoveries underscoring intensified efforts to combat violent crime and reinforce internal security.
In an official signed statement, the Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police Anthony Placid, disclosed that the achievements were recorded under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, as the Force sustained intelligence-led policing strategies across the country.
According to the statement, coordinated operations by Police tactical and investigative units led to the arrest of 28 suspected terrorists, 85 suspected kidnappers, 62 armed robbery suspects, 51 murder and culpable homicide suspects, and 54 suspected cultists.
The operations also resulted in the successful rescue of 189 kidnapped victims from various criminal hideouts and captivity locations nationwide.
Further breakthroughs included the recovery of 140 assorted firearms, 1,074 rounds of ammunition, and 37 stolen vehicles linked to criminal activities.
The Inspector-General of Police commended officers and men involved in the operations for their professionalism, resilience, and dedication to duty, noting that the achievements reflect the growing effectiveness of intelligence-driven policing as well as enhanced inter-agency collaboration in tackling evolving security threats.
He reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks, strengthening public safety, and sustaining ongoing institutional reforms aimed at building a more accountable, professional, and people-centred Police Force.
The Nigeria Police Force also urged members of the public to support security agencies with timely and credible information, emphasizing that security remains a collective responsibility.
