The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the resumption of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration exercise for its third and final phase, scheduled to commence on May 11, 2026.

According to an official signed statement by the Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, the second phase of the exercise was suspended on April 17, 2026, to enable the Commission clean up the voter register following its publication for claims and objections.

The Commission disclosed that the final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration will run from May 11 to July 10, 2026, providing another opportunity for eligible Nigerians who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who missed earlier phases, to register.

INEC also advised already registered voters seeking to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards, or correct their personal details to either access the Commission’s online portal or visit its offices at the state and local government levels nationwide.

As part of the statutory process, the Commission will display the updated Register of Voters for public scrutiny between July 23 and July 29, 2026, to allow for claims and objections.

The electoral body assured that all necessary logistics have been put in place to ensure a seamless exercise, urging eligible citizens to take advantage of the opportunity to register and contribute to strengthening Nigeria’s electoral process.
