The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has dismantled multiple drug hubs across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), arresting 132 suspects and recovering over 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances in a sweeping two-week operation.
According to an official signed statement by the Director of Media and Advocacy, NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, the coordinated raids were carried out between April 11 and April 25, 2026, by operatives of the Agency’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) alongside the FCT Strategic Command.
The statement explained that the offensive followed weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance targeting identified hotspots linked to drug trafficking, abuse, and related criminal activities across Abuja and its surrounding areas.
Locations where notorious drug joints were dismantled include Torabora Hills, Area 3, Gwarinpa, AYA, Durumi, Banex, Dei-Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, and the Suleja axis, among others.
Items recovered during the raids comprised 214.79 kilograms of skunk, a potent strain of cannabis, as well as quantities of controlled substances including Diazepam, Exol, Tramadol, Mogadon, Cocaine, Rohypnol, Methamphetamine, Ecstasy, and codeine syrup.
The agency noted that despite resistance encountered at certain locations, particularly in Durumi Area 1 and the Suleja market axis, operatives maintained operational superiority and professionalism, successfully subduing the drug syndicates and disrupting their distribution networks without recording casualties.
Briefing the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, the Director of Operations and General Investigation, Ahmed Sule Ningi, commended the officers for their resilience and coordination, stressing the importance of sustained pressure to consolidate the gains achieved.
In his response, Marwa praised the commitment of the operatives involved in the exercise and directed that the operational model be replicated across other high-risk urban centres nationwide. He reaffirmed the agency’s resolve to intensify efforts aimed at curbing both the supply and demand of illicit drugs across Nigeria.
The NDLEA reiterated its commitment to cleaning up communities and safeguarding public health and security through sustained enforcement actions against drug trafficking networks.
