The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has commended the Nigerian Air Force Queens Football Club for their remarkable performance at the 2026 Federation Cup, where they finished as runners-up following a fiercely contested final against Niger Rattle FC.
The commendation came as the team was received at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force in Abuja, where the CAS lauded their resilience, discipline, and professionalism throughout the tournament. He noted that their journey to the final reflects the steady growth and rising profile of women’s football within the Service.
“You have demonstrated courage, teamwork, and determination, values that define the Nigerian Air Force,” Aneke said. “Reaching the final of such a prestigious competition reflects the effectiveness of our investment in sports development and personnel welfare.”
He assured the team of sustained institutional support, emphasising the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent and providing the necessary resources for athletes to compete and excel at both national and international levels.
Earlier, the Director of Sports, Group Captain Ademide Adeyeye, expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Air Staff for his consistent backing of sports initiatives within the Service. He noted that the morale boost and logistical support provided by the leadership played a pivotal role in the team’s impressive outing.
The performance of the NAF Queens FC at the 2026 Federation Cup further underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s growing influence in sports development across the country, particularly in advancing women’s participation and excellence in football.
