The Federal Ministry of Interior has intensified its reform drive with the convening of a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) sensitization workshop aimed at enhancing institutional efficiency, strengthening service delivery, and attracting sustainable private sector investment into its operations.

According to an official signed statement by the Head of Press and Public Relations, Mary Ali, the workshop brought together directors, technical officers, and key stakeholders to build capacity on PPP frameworks, deepen institutional knowledge, and identify viable areas for collaboration with the private sector in alignment with national development priorities.

In her welcome address, the Deputy Director, Special Duties, Mrs. Adogeri Beloved, expressed appreciation to participants and underscored the strategic importance of the workshop in repositioning the Ministry for innovation-driven growth. She noted that the initiative is designed to expose staff to modern financing and operational models capable of addressing infrastructure gaps and improving service outcomes across the Ministry’s mandates.

Mrs. Beloved emphasised that the effective deployment of PPP strategies would enable the Ministry to leverage private sector expertise, drive operational efficiency, and ensure sustainable development in line with evolving governance demands.

Delivering opening remarks on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Director of Human Resources Management, Mrs. Catherine Zozi, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to institutional strengthening and public sector reform. She highlighted PPPs as a critical mechanism for delivering value for money, enhancing transparency, and fostering innovation in public service delivery.

The Permanent Secretary stressed that equipping officers with the skills required to design, implement, and monitor PPP projects is essential for achieving long-term impact and aligning the Ministry’s operations with global best practices.

In his goodwill message, the Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC), Dr. Johnson Ewalefoh, commended the Ministry for its proactive approach to embracing PPP frameworks. He noted that effective collaboration between government institutions and the private sector remains pivotal to unlocking economic potential and addressing Nigeria’s infrastructure deficit.

Dr. Ewalefoh assured the Ministry of the Commission’s continued support through regulatory guidance, technical expertise, and oversight to ensure that PPP initiatives deliver optimal public value while upholding accountability and transparency.

The workshop featured a series of technical sessions, expert presentations, and interactive discussions focused on PPP implementation, project structuring, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Participants were encouraged to translate the knowledge gained into the development of viable and bankable projects that align with the Ministry’s strategic objectives.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to advancing reforms that strengthen institutional capacity, promote strategic partnerships, and deliver efficient, transparent, and citizen-focused services through innovative frameworks such as Public-Private Partnerships.
