The Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to fostering partnerships that promote national unity, inclusion, and social development through sports.
Tunji-Ojo gave the assurance while receiving the leadership of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria on a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Interior in Abuja.
In an official signed statement, the Head, Press and Public Relations, Mary Ali, disclosed that the Minister, while welcoming the delegation, highlighted the Ministry’s core mandate of safeguarding internal security, citizenship integrity, and institutional efficiency. He noted that collaboration with credible organisations such as LGAN contributes significantly to broader governance objectives.
The Minister commended the association for its sustained role in promoting golf among women in Nigeria, describing its efforts as instrumental in fostering discipline, leadership, and international representation.
He also outlined ongoing reforms within agencies under the Ministry, including improvements in passport administration and the deployment of modern electronic gate systems at international airports, aimed at enhancing service delivery and restoring public confidence.
Earlier, the President of LGAN, Lami Onayi Ahmed, appreciated the Minister for the audience and highlighted the association’s mandate as the umbrella body for women golfers in Nigeria, focused on expanding participation, capacity building, and international engagement.
The delegation commended the Minister’s reform initiatives, particularly efforts to modernise processes within the Ministry, noting that they align with global best practices and national development goals.
Tunji-Ojo assured the association of the Ministry’s continued support in advancing initiatives that empower women and promote sports development nationwide. He urged members to remain ambassadors of Nigeria by leveraging sports as a platform for unity, national pride, and socio-economic advancement.
The visit ended with both parties expressing commitment to sustained collaboration in advancing shared national objectives.
