A member of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, Tolu Bankole, has congratulated the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, on his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate for the Ogun East Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Bankole described the governor’s endorsement by party leaders, stakeholders, and members across Ogun East as a reflection of his impactful leadership and commitment to the unity and growth of the party.

He noted that the consensus decision underscores the confidence reposed in Abiodun’s ability to provide effective representation at the National Assembly, citing his performance in office as a key factor in the endorsement.

According to Bankole, the governor’s administration has been marked by strategic infrastructure development, economic expansion, and people-focused policies aimed at improving living standards across the state.

He added that Ogun State has witnessed notable progress in critical sectors such as road construction, education, healthcare, and industrial development under Abiodun’s leadership, positioning the state as a major investment destination.

The APC chieftain also highlighted the governor’s commitment to inclusive governance, noting that his leadership style has fostered unity across political, ethnic, and socio-economic lines while strengthening grassroots participation.

Bankole further stated that beyond state-level achievements, Abiodun has contributed significantly to national policy discussions within the party and supported broader development objectives of the current administration.

He expressed confidence that the governor’s transition to the Senate would enhance representation for Ogun East and attract increased federal attention and development to the district.

Describing the consensus arrangement as a demonstration of internal cohesion within the party, Bankole commended stakeholders for prioritising collective interest, adding that such unity is vital for electoral success and democratic stability.

He reaffirmed his support for Abiodun’s senatorial ambition and pledged to mobilise backing across party structures to ensure victory at the polls, expressing optimism that the endorsement signals a new phase of national service for the governor.
