The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to providing full operational and intelligence support to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons in the fight against human trafficking and organised crime.

Disu gave the assurance on April 21, 2026, while receiving the Director-General of NAPTIP, Binta Adamu Bello, and her delegation on a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

In an official signed statement, the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, disclosed that the meeting focused on strengthening collaboration between both agencies to enhance operational effectiveness in tackling trafficking in persons and related criminal networks.

During the visit, Binta Bello commended the Police for its sustained support and sought deeper collaboration through specialised technical assistance and joint operational frameworks to boost NAPTIP’s expanding mandate.

In response, the police chief assured that the Force would deploy its full capabilities, including intelligence-driven strategies, joint operations, and real-time information sharing, to support NAPTIP’s activities. He also pledged the support of specialised units such as the Intelligence Response Team and the NPF National Cybercrime Centre to enhance investigations and disrupt organised crime syndicates.

The IGP further highlighted plans for capacity building and specialised training for NAPTIP personnel within police institutions, aimed at strengthening technical competence and operational coordination.

He added that regular strategic briefings between both agencies would be institutionalised to track progress and sustain momentum in the fight against human trafficking.

Disu stressed that the renewed partnership underscores a zero-tolerance stance against trafficking and organised crime, warning that perpetrators would find no safe haven within the country.
