The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthening collaboration with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) as part of ongoing efforts to enhance community-based policing and national security.
Disu gave the assurance while receiving a delegation of the PCRC on a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, the PCRC delegation was led by its National Chairman, Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, and comprised key members of the National Executive Committee alongside representatives from various regional commands.
Speaking during the visit, Olaniyan congratulated Disu on his appointment as Inspector-General of Police and reaffirmed the PCRC’s loyalty and unwavering support for the police institution. He commended the IGP for his consistent recognition of the strategic contributions of the committee in supporting policing efforts and promoting community participation in security matters across the country.
In his response, Disu expressed appreciation for the sustained support of the PCRC to the Nigeria Police Force, noting that the committee remains an important partner in strengthening trust between the police and the communities they serve.
The Inspector-General assured the delegation of the Force’s continued cooperation while charging the PCRC leadership to maintain strict oversight of its members. He emphasised that PCRC identification must be used strictly for legitimate purposes and intelligence gathering in support of policing operations.
Disu further urged members of the committee to remain exemplary citizens whose conduct reflects the values of integrity and responsibility required to sustain the credibility of the partnership between the police and the public.
The meeting, according to the police leadership, underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to fostering stronger community relations and deepening collaborative security efforts nationwide.
