Troops of the Nigerian Army under the 82 Division Garrison operating through Operation Eastern Sanity have rescued 12 kidnapped victims and arrested two suspects during a swift response operation in Ette Community, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The successful rescue, which took place on Friday, 6 March 2026, followed a distress call reporting that several residents of the community had been abducted by suspected kidnappers.

Acting promptly on the intelligence, troops immediately mobilised alongside operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, local Forest Guards and members of the Neighbourhood Watch to track the criminals and secure the victims’ release.

Security forces advanced into the suspected hideout area where the victims were believed to have been taken and commenced aggressive search operations as well as fighting patrols across the surrounding terrain in an effort to locate the kidnappers.

Confronted with the rapid deployment and superior combat readiness of the troops, the kidnappers reportedly abandoned their captives and fled the scene.

The troops immediately secured the area and pursued the fleeing suspects. During the exploitation of the location, all 12 kidnapped victims were successfully rescued unharmed.

In the course of the operation, two suspects believed to be linked to the kidnapping syndicate were arrested. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation as security operatives intensify efforts to track down other members of the criminal gang.

Meanwhile, troops of Operation Eastern Sanity have intensified aggressive patrols and surveillance activities across the area to forestall further criminal activities and ensure the safety of residents.

Security authorities noted that the successful rescue operation highlights the sustained operational pressure being mounted by troops and their unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property while restoring lasting peace and public confidence across communities in the region.
