The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out precision air strikes on terrorist strongholds in the Yuwe general area of the Sambisa axis, neutralising several high-value operatives and dismantling key logistics infrastructure.
The operation, conducted on February 28, 2026, was executed under the Joint Task Force of Operation Hadin Kai following confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that identified structures serving as hideouts for terrorist commanders and storage facilities for logistics supplies.
In an official signed statement, the Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the early morning Air Interdiction (AI) mission was intelligence-driven and carefully validated before engagement.
According to him, NAF strike elements acquired and engaged the confirmed targets with precision, delivering accurate air strikes that effectively dismantled critical terrorist infrastructure within the area.
Post-strike assessments, supported by credible intelligence sources, confirmed the neutralisation of several high-value operatives, including senior commanders and fighters believed to be coordinating hostile activities within the theatre of operations.
Military authorities said the strikes significantly disrupted the terrorists’ command-and-control architecture and degraded their logistics network, thereby constraining their operational capabilities in the region.
The Air Force has since sustained ISR presence over the Sambisa axis to track fleeing and regrouping elements, with a view to identifying and engaging additional verified targets.
Reacting to the operation, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the professionalism and combat efficiency of the aircrew and supporting personnel involved in the mission.
“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to project decisive air power in close synergy with ground forces until every identified terrorist enclave is dismantled. We remain committed to sustaining aggressive, intelligence-led operations that protect our nation and restore enduring peace,” he said.
The latest strikes form part of ongoing coordinated air and ground operations aimed at denying terrorist groups freedom of movement and safe havens in the North-East theatre, reinforcing the military’s broader objective of restoring lasting stability to the region.
