The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu State Council, Correspondents’ Chapel, has honoured Hon. Peter Eze, Federal Commissioner representing Enugu State at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), with the Award of Excellence for Outstanding Youth Leadership.
Eze received the award at a ceremony held in Enugu on Wednesday, where he expressed appreciation to the NUJ Enugu State Council Correspondents’ Chapel for recognising his leadership and contributions to society.
He described the honour as particularly significant, noting that it came from an institution whose responsibility in informing the public, holding leaders accountable and shaping public opinion remained vital to national development.
The Federal Commissioner urged the NUJ to sustain its role as the conscience of the nation through courageous journalism, balanced reporting and objective judgement.
According to him, the recognition went beyond celebrating past achievements, serving instead as a renewed call to greater responsibility, purposeful leadership and meaningful service to society.
Eze reaffirmed his commitment to creating more opportunities and contributing to a society where leadership is measured not merely by titles but by its positive impact on people’s lives.
“The honour is appreciated, the responsibility is understood, and the commitment to service remains unwavering,” he said.
He added that the award had further strengthened his resolve to deepen his contributions to public service and community development.
The recognition underscores the importance of youth leadership and responsible public service, while highlighting the role of journalism in promoting accountability, informed public discourse and good governance.
