Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intensified their offensive against insurgent groups in Nigeria’s North East, neutralising scores of terrorists and recovering weapons and logistics supplies in a series of coordinated operations under Operation DESERT SANITY V.
The successes were disclosed in a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer at Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, who confirmed that troops have continued to sustain aggressive operations across multiple sectors of the theatre.
According to the statement, troops operating in Sector 2, working closely with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, carried out a successful night operation around Muktum and Ngirbuwa villages, during which they neutralised several terrorists. Following the engagement, the troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, three motorcycles, and a number of mobile phones believed to have been used by the insurgents.
Further exploitation along the terrorists’ withdrawal route revealed drag marks and a shallow grave, suggesting that additional casualties were inflicted on the fleeing fighters.
In a related development, troops in Sector 1 recorded another operational success while conducting clearance operations along the Bulayobe–Darel Jamel axis. During the operation, soldiers engaged terrorists attempting to cross the Main Supply Route. Overwhelmed by the troops’ superior firepower, the insurgents fled in disarray, abandoning two sacks containing assorted logistics items suspected to be intended for terrorist use.
Despite the fluid and unpredictable nature of the security environment, the Joint Task Force reported that the overall situation across the theatre remains relatively calm, with troops maintaining dominance in their areas of responsibility.
The statement noted that the morale and fighting spirit of the troops remain high, enabling them to sustain pressure on terrorist elements and disrupt their activities across the region.
Operation HADIN KAI Headquarters reaffirmed its determination to continue offensive operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters, assuring Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to restoring lasting peace, security, and economic stability in the North East.
