The Nigeria Police Force on Thursday night wrapped the nation in carols, prayers and profound spiritual reflection as it hosted its annual Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons at the Police Resource Centre, Abuja, bringing together faith leaders, government officials and senior security chiefs in a solemn celebration of peace and hope.
The event, themed “Prince of Peace,” blended Scripture, music and worship into a deeply symbolic evening that underscored the Force’s recognition of the spiritual dimension of nationhood and policing, especially at a time when Nigeria continues to navigate complex security and social challenges.
Gracing the carol service were the Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye; the Convener of the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD), Pastor Jerry Eze; renowned gospel ministers Solomon Lange and Walter Michael, alongside other high-profile dignitaries, senior police officers and their families.
From the opening procession to the final benediction, the atmosphere within the Police Resource Centre was marked by reverence, warmth and collective reflection. Carefully selected biblical lessons tracing the promise, birth and redemptive message of Christ were read in succession, reinforcing the central theme of peace as both a divine gift and a national imperative.
The Nigeria Police Force Mass Choir delivered a stirring performance that stood as the musical centrepiece of the night, captivating the audience with rich harmonies and powerful renditions of classic and contemporary carols. Their performance, complemented by ministrations from guest gospel artists, transformed the hall into a sanctuary of worship, lifting spirits and renewing faith in the possibility of unity across divides.
Beyond the melodies, the carol service served as a reminder of the values that underpin effective policing: compassion, restraint, service and an unwavering commitment to the common good. Messages shared during the programme emphasised peace not merely as the absence of conflict, but as justice, understanding and mutual respect—virtues essential to national cohesion and public trust.
The presence of respected religious leaders alongside government officials and law enforcement leadership further reinforced the symbolism of the occasion: a shared responsibility to nurture peace, moral renewal and national healing. Participants were encouraged to use the Christmas season as a time for reconciliation, prayer for the nation and renewed commitment to unity.
As the final notes of worship faded and goodwill filled the hall, the evening left behind more than festive cheer. It projected the Nigeria Police Force as an institution conscious of its moral calling, embracing the spirit of the season to reaffirm its dedication to protecting lives, fostering harmony and standing as a partner in Nigeria’s collective quest for peace.
In a season defined by celebration and reflection, the Police Christmas Carol of Nine Lessons stood as a quiet but powerful reminder that peace—like security—must be continually nurtured, protected and shared.
