The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has announced the commencement of the recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables into the Force, following the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu aimed at revitalising community policing, strengthening internal security and expanding the manpower capacity of the NPF.

Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Kalu, disclosed in an official signed statement that the recruitment portal has been approved for opening to allow eligible Nigerians submit applications in line with the Presidential directive. According to the statement, the launch of the recruitment exercise reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring a more robust, well-equipped and professionally staffed Police Force capable of addressing contemporary security challenges across the country.

The Commission announced that candidates applying for the General Duty cadre must possess GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE, NECO or equivalent certificates with a minimum of five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings. For the Specialists cadre, applicants are required to have at least four credits, including English and Mathematics, with a minimum of three years’ experience and relevant trade test qualifications.

The statement further outlined that interested candidates must be Nigerian citizens by birth, meet the prescribed age requirements, and be medically, physically and psychologically fit. Height requirements apply only to General Duty applicants, alongside additional conditions that will be specified on the recruitment portal when it goes live.

The application window opens on Monday, 15 December 2025, and will close on Sunday, 25 January 2026. All applications are to be submitted exclusively online through the official recruitment portal: www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng.

The Police Service Commission emphasised that the recruitment process will be transparent, merit-driven and strictly free of charge. It cautioned the public against fraudsters and reiterated that no payment is required at any stage of the exercise. Detailed guidelines and recruitment requirements will be available on the portal upon its activation, as well as on the official websites and social media channels of both the PSC and the Nigeria Police Force.

The Commission encouraged qualified Nigerians with a passion for national service to take advantage of this opportunity to contribute to the security and development of the country.
