Women Radio 91.7FM, in partnership with the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ), has announced that the 2025 edition of the ReportHer Awards will take place on Friday, 28 November 2025, in Lagos. The annual event is designed to celebrate media organisations that prioritise women’s representation, amplify women’s voices and demonstrate a consistent commitment to gender equity both in newsroom culture and editorial output.

The ReportHer Awards, described by organisers as a strategic intervention for improving gender inclusion in the Nigerian media landscape, seeks to spotlight news organisations that have shown excellence in gender-sensitive reporting and have significantly contributed to building an equitable and representative media environment. According to Women Radio and WSCIJ, the media remains one of the most powerful agents of social influence, shaping public perception and societal attitudes; therefore, rewarding organisations that uphold inclusive reporting is critical for strengthening national conversations around women’s rights and representation.

The 2025 edition will honour outstanding work across four central categories that reflect priority areas for advancing women’s visibility in Nigeria. These include Female Leadership Representation, recognising organisations that portray and celebrate women in leadership roles across various sectors; Inclusive Advocacy and Reportage, acknowledging balanced and impactful storytelling that centres women’s voices; Pro-Women Workplace Policy, commending organisations that implement gender-equitable policies, ensure workplace safety and provide career advancement opportunities for women; and GBV Reporting, which rewards exceptional journalism that exposes, analyses and offers constructive solutions to gender-based violence.

Women Radio 91.7FM and the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism reaffirmed that the awards are not just a platform for recognition but a mechanism for driving systemic change within the media industry. They noted that showcasing organisations that embrace inclusive editorial standards will encourage more media houses to adopt gender-equitable policies and practices, ultimately strengthening media accountability across the country.

The ReportHer Awards 2025 is supported by Ford Foundation West Africa, whose long-standing commitment to social justice and gender equity aligns strongly with the goals of the initiative. Organisers noted that the partnership aims to deepen gender-sensitive reporting nationwide and empower newsrooms to sustain a culture of fairness, accuracy and representation in stories involving women.

Women Radio 91.7FM restated its dedication to promoting women’s visibility, leadership and empowerment through media, emphasising that the 2025 awards reinforce this mission by celebrating accurate, respectful and impactful storytelling that elevates women’s experiences and contributions to society.
