Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have recorded another major success in Taraba State as part of ongoing operations code-named Operation Lafiya Nakowa, which is aimed at flushing out terrorists and criminal elements in the region. The soldiers foiled a planned terrorist attack, neutralized two terrorists, and seized dangerous weapons in a decisive operation.

In a statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations for 6 Brigade, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the operation was carried out on October 1, 2025, following credible intelligence reports that bandits were gathering at Tor Ikyeghgba village. Acting on the tip-off, the troops advanced to the area and made contact with the terrorists along the Powerline axis. According to the statement, the troops immediately engaged the criminals with superior firepower, killing two terrorists on the spot and scattering the rest of the group.

Items recovered from the scene included a locally fabricated pistol, two Dane guns, three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a Baofeng radio, a motorcycle, and other assorted items used by the criminals.

The Commander of 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their swift response, resilience, and professionalism during the encounter. He urged them to maintain the momentum in the fight against terrorism and banditry, assuring the residents of Taraba State that the Brigade remains fully committed to restoring and sustaining peace, safety, and security in the state.

General Uwa also appealed to members of the public to continue to support the operations by providing timely and credible information that will aid security forces in tackling criminality effectively. He reiterated that the cooperation between citizens and the military is crucial to ensuring lasting stability across Taraba.
