…secures fourth ISO since 2013

By Nkechi Eze

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has once again demonstrated its commitment to global best practices in road safety administration and traffic management by securing recertification for ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Standards.

The development was confirmed following a successful system audit conducted by the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), which reviewed the Corps’ operational procedures and compliance with quality benchmarks.

In a statement made available by Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, Corps Public Education Officer, the recertification marks the fourth time FRSC has met the rigorous standards of the International Organisation for Standardization since its initial certification in 2013.

FRSC was first certified for ISO 9001:2008 on 26 March 2013 and successfully transitioned to ISO 9001:2015 on 16 January 2016. Subsequent recertifications followed in 2019, 2022, and now in 2025, underscoring the Corps’ consistency in upholding quality assurance in its service delivery.

Commenting on the achievement, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed described the recertification as a significant milestone that distinguishes FRSC as a trailblazer in Africa.

“As the first and only law enforcement agency in Africa to achieve this rare feat, this recertification is a milestone that reflects the true disposition of the Corps as a determined organisation committed to attaining excellence in all aspects of its operations and service delivery,” he stated.

He commended the entire workforce for their individual and collective roles in sustaining the Corps’ quality standards and highlighted the recertification as a testament to professionalism, coordinated processes, and a high standard of public service.

The Corps Marshal further assured Nigerians that the FRSC will continue to uphold the certification through enhanced productivity, professionalism, and effective service delivery aimed at ensuring safer roads across the country.

The FRSC headquarters in Abuja has become a model for quality-driven law enforcement operations in Africa, further cementing its leadership in road safety and regulatory efficiency.
