In a gesture of solidarity and remembrance, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at Red Square, Moscow, on Thursday, 8 May 2025. The event marked the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, commemorating the end of World War II and the sacrifices made by Russian forces.

The solemn ceremony, held at 0900 hrs (GMT+3), was attended by over 40 international delegations, including 32 heads of government. The CDS was joined by Major General UA Yusuf, Commander Infantry Corps, and Brigadier General Obinna Azuikpe, Principal General Staff Officer to the CDS.

This act of homage highlights the enduring diplomatic and military relations between both countries and honoured the courage and resilience of those who fought for freedom.
