The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, on Wednesday, 8 May 2025, commissioned five critical infrastructure projects at the 107 Air Maritime Group in Benin, reaffirming the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) commitment to the welfare and operational efficiency of its personnel.

Speaking at the event, Air Marshal Abubakar described the projects as a testament to the NAF’s resolve to invest in its greatest resource its personnel. “We recognize that our personnel are our greatest assets,” the CAS declared, adding that the new facilities reflect a deliberate effort to improve the working and living conditions of airmen and officers.

The newly commissioned projects include mini armouries, an aircraft hangar office, modern living quarters, and a state-of-the-art gymnasium. According to the CAS, the facilities represent more than just physical structures but embody the Air Force’s ongoing drive to enhance morale, boost productivity, and ensure mission readiness.
“These facilities represent more than just structures, they symbolise our commitment to our people,” he said, noting the transformation at the base since his first visit. He emphasized that such investments are essential for sustaining operational excellence and building a modern air force capable of confronting contemporary security challenges.
As the NAF marks 61 years of service to the nation, Air Marshal Abubakar used the occasion to urge all personnel to uphold professionalism, discipline, and responsible stewardship of the newly commissioned assets. “The future of air power begins with well-supported and motivated airmen,” he concluded.
The ceremony drew senior military officers, unit commanders, and personnel of the 107 Air Maritime Group, who welcomed the development as a morale booster and a strong sign of leadership commitment to their well-being.
