The Independent National Electoral Commission has denied circulating reports that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and services such as transfer and replacement of lost Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) will resume on May 27, 2025.
In a statement on Sunday, May 4, 2025, INEC’s Chief Press Secretary, Rotimi Oyekanmi, described the information as fake and anonymous, urging the public to disregard it.
According to Oyekanmi, INEC has not announced any date for the resumption of CVR, transfer, and replacement of lost PVCs. The commission emphasized its tradition of formally announcing important electoral processes through verified channels and platforms. When the resumption date is announced, it will be shared via official social media platforms.
The clarification comes at a time of increased political activity in the country, with citizens looking forward to participating in upcoming elections. INEC cautioned that disseminating inaccurate information about voter registration could cause confusion and unnecessary worry among the public. As such, the commission advised Nigerians to depend only on official sources for updates and refrain from sharing unconfirmed reports.
In light of this development, Nigerians are advised to be cautious of misinformation and rely on INEC’s official channels for updates on voter registration.
