The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has demonstrated empathy, accountability, and unwavering commitment to civilian welfare by fulfilling all promises made to victims and families affected by the unfortunate airstrike at Dangebe Village in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, which occurred on 11 January 2025.

It would be recalled that after the incident, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, dispatched a Committee of senior officers to conduct fact-finding visits, and later made a condolence visit to Zamfara on March 6, 2025. During this emotionally charged visit, he met with survivors, bereaved families, and community members, acknowledged the pain, grief, and disruption caused, and promised immediate and long-term measures to alleviate their suffering.

The promises included providing financial support to the families of the deceased, reconstructing the damaged building in the village, replacing the two destroyed motorcycles, and building a borehole in nearby Kambarawa Village to supply clean water to surrounding communities. These initiatives are part of the Nigerian Air Force’s broader civil-military engagement strategy aimed at building trust, healing, and cooperation with host communities in conflict zones.

Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame in an official signed statement Wednesday, disclosed that the NAF has fulfilled every commitment.

The damaged building has been rebuilt, and two brand-new motorcycles have been handed over to their owners.

The borehole has been drilled and is serving Kambarawa Village and surrounding areas, providing clean water to hundreds of residents. Furthermore, funds have been fully distributed to victims and their families to support their recovery and rebuilding efforts.

In response, the affected families and community members have expressed deep gratitude to the NAF for its sincerity, compassion, and prompt fulfillment of promises. Community leaders and residents alike praised the Service for not only acknowledging the tragic incident but for taking concrete steps to bring healing and hope.

These actions embody the Nigerian Air Force’s values of professionalism, responsibility, and respect for human dignity. The NAF remains dedicated to transparency and accountability in all operations, reaffirming its commitment to minimizing civilian harm, upholding human rights, and fostering lasting civil-military relations as both strategic and moral imperatives.

For the NAF, safeguarding Nigerians’ lives and property is a constitutional duty and a sacred trust. The Service will continue to enhance community engagement, strictly adhere to rules of engagement, and uphold the highest professionalism standards in all operational theaters.
