Karu Fire Incident, FEMA Commiserates With Victims And Their Families

The Ag. Director General of the FCT Emergency Management Department, Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed has commiserated with the victims and families affected by the tragic truck fire incident at Karu bridge, along Keffi road in the FCT.

Newspeg on Wednesday 19 March 2025 reported that the fire which broke around 7.14pm yesterday when a truck lost control on the Karu bridge.

The impact triggered a massive explosion, engulfing over 14 vehicles trapped in a traffic jam on the road, claimed six lives and left many injured.

A signed statement made available to journalists by the head media FEMD, Nkechi Isa disclosed that preliminary reports indicates that the incident was caused by an open-body trailer powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).  

Some of the victims were taken to the National hospital, Asokoro Hospital, State House clinic, Customs hospital and Nyanya General hospital for treatment.

Firefighters from  the FCT FIre Service and Federal Fire Service were on ground to contain the fire.

Meanwhile, Engr Abdulrahman Mohammed has urged all drivers to exercise caution on the roads, obey traffic rules and regulations to prevent similar occurrence.
