Rescue Efforts Underway as Emergency Responders Rush to Karu Bridge Accident Scene

A ghastly motor accident has occurred at the Karu bridge between Kugbo and Nyanya in the FCT.

According to a signed statement by Nkechi Isa, Head Public Affairs FEMA, the accident which occurred at about 7.14 this evening involved a Compressed Natural Gas CNG truck and other vehicles.

FEMA’s Head of Forecasting Response and Mitigation division, Mr Mark Nyam, disclosed that the accident occurred when the driver of the CNG truck lost control on the bridge and ran into other motorists leading to an explosion.

He said that the search and rescue team of FEMA, Federal Fire Service, FCT Fire Service, the Nigeria Police Force and NEMA are ground to rescue the casualties.

Meanwhile, victims of the incident have been taken to the State House clinic as the Asokoro Hospital and the National Hospital can no longer accommodate victims.
