FCT Police Crack Down on Car Theft: 19 Stolen Vehicles Recovered

The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command has on Tuesday announced the successful recovery of 19 stolen vehicles within the Federal Capital Territory between January and February 2025.

The command Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh in a signed statement made available to journalists disclosed that the vehicles were stolen from various locations across the FCT.

“The vehicles were reported stolen and subsequently recovered in Jos, Niger, Kaduna, and within the FCT itself.

The recovery distribution by divisions and units is as follows. 

“Maitama Division– 1 vehicles recovered, 

Mpape Division– 3 vehicles recovered, 

Bwari Division– 1 vehicle recovered, 

Central Police Station– 2 vehicles recovered,

Trademore Division– 2 vehicles recovered, 

Mabushi Division– 2 vehicles recovered, 

Anti-Car Theft Unit– 1 vehicle recovered, 

Utako Division– 2 vehicles recovered, 

Gwarimpa Division – 1 vehicles recovered

Durumi Division – 2 Vehicles recovered, 

Kubwa Division – 2 Vehicles recovered.

“The FCT Police Command remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of residents and protecting their property.” She said.

“In light of the ongoing efforts to combat vehicle theft, CP Olatunji Disu, psc, urges the public to adopt proactive measures to secure their vehicles.

The installation of vehicle tracking devices is strongly recommended to significantly enhance the likelihood of swift recovery in the event of theft.

“Additionally, vehicle owners are encouraged to consider the implementation of supplementary security devices, such as: Steering wheel locks, Pedal locks, Alarm systems as well as Immobilisers.

“We advise vehicle owners to avoid parking in isolated areas, maintain vigilance at all times, and promptly report any suspicious activities to law enforcement.

The FCT Police Command assures the community of its unwavering dedication to curbing criminal activities and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.
