Trump Signs Executive Order To Stop Gender Mutilation Of Children

The U.S President, Donald Trump, has issued an executive order to stop the “gender affirming care” policy that involves the mutilation of children’s gender in the country.

Trump, who disclosed this on Wednesday in an X post on his Truth Social platform, said the US government will no longer fund the programme which was initiated under the Joe Biden-led administration.

The statement read, “Today, it was my great honor to sign an Executive Order banning the chemical castration and medical mutilation of innocent children in the United States of America.

“Our Nation will no longer fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support so-called “gender affirming care,” which has already ruined far too many precious lives.

“My Order directs Agencies to use every available means to cut off Federal financial participation in institutions which seek to provide these barbaric medical procedures, that should have never been allowed to take place!,” Trump said.

Gender affirming care was introduced to support transgender individuals, providing counseling for those considering a transition, as well as for their families.

As part of the policy, the government had funded gender-affirming surgeries, though the procedures were generally limited to adults. International guidelines advise against performing such surgeries on children before puberty.

Despite this, some minors have received gender-affirming treatments, including puberty blockers, which are used to delay puberty and allow young individuals more time to explore their gender identity before undergoing further medical interventions.

Many major medical organisations have endorsed gender-affirming care and have received federal funding to support the treatments.

However, Trump’s new order has eliminated all federal funding for the procedures in the U.S.
