Corruption Remains The Root Of All Criminal Activities – ICPC BOSS

Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), stresses that corruption is the root of all criminal activities, calling on Nigerians to join forces against this menace. He urges collective action to combat corruption, recognizing its far-reaching impact on the nation.

He made this declaration after receiving a lifetime achievement award at the 2024 National Crimewatch Awards ceremony in Abuja for his contributions to fighting corruption in public service.

Dr. Aliyu, who was represented by ICPC Deputy Director Dr. Oluwasina Babasola, stressed that corruption poses a significant threat to national security, stability, prosperity, and sovereignty.

Under his leadership, the ICPC has made notable progress in a short period, earning respect and securing crucial partnerships across Nigeria.

The ICPC remains committed to minimizing corruption, with Dr. Babasola expressing gratitude for the recognition, which will inspire further efforts.

The National Crimewatch Awards, now in its 21st year, honor exceptional contributions to national security, with recipients selected based on feedback from independent assessment questionnaires filled out by crime-beat journalists.

Other notable awardees included Lifetime Achievement Award in Police Operations was given to Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Inspector General of Police, while National Crimewatch Man of the Year went to Lt. Gen. Christopher Musa, Chief of Defence Staff.

Others are Lifetime Achievements in National Security and Fight Against Drug-Related Crimes awarded to Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa, Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
