The Cross River State Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Goddie Archibong Akpama, has raised concerns over his alleged wrongful inclusion in an online directory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Cross River State Campaign Council, describing the listing as a misrepresentation of his political affiliation.
Akpama, in a statement issued alongside the NDC State Publicity Secretary, Comrade Cletus Amawu, denied being a member of the APC or having any affiliation with its Cross River State Campaign Council.
According to the statement, the disputed directory, hosted on a website bearing the address apc2027.netlify.app, lists an individual identified as “Mr Goddy Akama” under the Chieftaincy Affairs category.
The NDC chairman insisted that his correct name is Goddie Archibong Akpama, stressing that the discrepancy in the name and the purported political affiliation could mislead the public and create confusion among political stakeholders.
He reaffirmed his position as the NDC chairman in Cross River State, stating that his political commitments and activities remained firmly within the party.
Akpama expressed concern that the publication could undermine his political standing and create a false impression about his allegiance, adding that the possibility of individuals exploiting the listing to embarrass or blackmail him politically could not be ignored.
He, however, did not identify those responsible for the publication or provide evidence establishing the motive behind the alleged misrepresentation.
The NDC chairman challenged those responsible for compiling, hosting or circulating the directory to explain how the name was included and demanded its immediate removal, alongside a public clarification.
He also urged journalists, political stakeholders, NDC supporters and members of the public not to treat the online listing as evidence of his membership of the APC.
Reaffirming his commitment to the NDC, Akpama said his political activities were focused on strengthening the party and advancing its objectives, including efforts to bring Peter Obi into the political equation through the NDC platform.
He maintained that political disagreements should be addressed through legitimate engagement rather than the circulation of misleading claims about individuals’ political affiliations.
Akpama insisted that the disputed listing would not distract him from his responsibilities as the NDC chairman in Cross River State, reiterating his demand for the correction of the name and removal of the purported APC affiliation.
