The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has announced the stabilisation of the national electricity grid following multiple trippings on the 330kV transmission network on Monday, October 19, 2026.
NISO said the incident occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m., prompting immediate corrective measures in collaboration with the Transmission Company (TC) to stabilise the power system and restore normal operations.
In a statement issued by its management, the system operator confirmed that restoration efforts had been completed and the national grid had returned to normal operation.
The operator clarified that the incident affected only a section of the grid, contrary to unverified reports circulating in the media suggesting a wider disruption.
It urged members of the public to disregard misleading information and rely on its official communication channels for accurate updates on the status of the national electricity grid.
NISO reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining grid stability, ensuring reliable operation of the national electricity transmission system and providing timely, accurate information to the public.
