The Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) has visited families of victims of the Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft crash at Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, assuring them of continued welfare support beyond the immediate period of mourning.
The aircraft, NAF 931, crashed on October 5, 2026, leaving families, colleagues and members of the Nigerian Air Force community grieving the loss of the crew and passengers.
Through its chapters across the federation, NAFOWA members conveyed the Association’s condolences and solidarity to the bereaved families on behalf of its National President, Mrs. Ngozi Aneke.
In a condolence message, the Association described the incident as a painful moment for the Nigerian Air Force family, the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the country, assuring the affected families that they would not be left alone to bear the burden of their loss.
“This is a profoundly painful moment for the entire Nigerian Air Force family, the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the wider Nigerian nation and people everywhere who recognise the value of every human life. We share in your grief and want you to know that you are not alone. NAFOWA will stand by you at this difficult time,” the message stated.
The Association also extended its thoughts and prayers to the bereaved families, colleagues, friends and others directly affected by the tragedy.
NAFOWA said the condolence visits formed part of its broader welfare and humanitarian interventions aimed at supporting military families, particularly those facing difficult circumstances following the loss of loved ones.
It reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining support beyond the immediate period of mourning, with continued attention to the welfare needs of the spouses and children left behind.
The Association’s intervention complements ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Air Force leadership to provide support to families affected by the crash, underscoring the importance of sustained institutional care for military families during periods of grief and loss.
