The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has inaugurated an infrastructure communication, mobilisation and sensitisation team for the 2027 All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council to coordinate the documentation and publicity of federal infrastructure projects across Nigeria.

Umahi, who serves as Deputy Director-General for Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation of the campaign council, inaugurated members of his office in Abuja on Thursday, October 15, 2026, urging them to work together to ensure effective communication of infrastructure developments under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

According to an official statement signed by Mohammed A. Ahmed, Director of Information and Public Relations, Umahi said the team would identify, document, compile and publicise infrastructure projects being executed by federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

He explained that although the Federal Ministry of Works accounts for a significant proportion of the Federal Government’s infrastructure investments, the team’s responsibilities would extend to other MDAs to provide a comprehensive overview of projects across the country’s six geopolitical zones.

The minister consequently directed the Senior Special Assistants to the President on Community Engagement for the six geopolitical zones, who would serve as zonal coordinators, alongside other members and the office secretary, to collaborate in identifying and documenting projects within their respective areas.

He said the initiative was designed to establish a coordinated system for gathering and disseminating information on infrastructure investments under the Renewed Hope Administration, ensuring that relevant developments across the country were adequately documented and communicated to the public.

Umahi clarified that existing publicity activities by the Federal Ministry of Works and the presidential aides would continue, while his office would provide a broader platform for coordinating information on infrastructure projects undertaken by other MDAs at zonal, subnational and national levels.

He stressed that accurate documentation and effective communication were essential to making information about government infrastructure investments accessible to Nigerians.

The minister also highlighted the importance of infrastructure development in stimulating economic activities, connecting communities and creating opportunities across different sectors of the economy.

According to him, infrastructure investment promotes economic growth, strengthens connectivity and supports the expansion of other productive sectors.

Umahi further highlighted the Federal Government’s adoption of continuous reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) technology in road construction, noting that the approach was intended to reduce reliance on imported bitumen and encourage the use of locally available materials and expertise.

He said the technology could support domestic economic activities, reduce foreign exchange demand associated with imported construction materials and promote durable road infrastructure.

The minister charged members of the team to demonstrate diligence, professionalism and responsibility in carrying out their assignments, emphasising that effective public sensitisation depended on accurate information gathering and coordinated dissemination.

The inauguration marks an organisational step by the APC Presidential Campaign Council towards coordinating infrastructure-related communication and public engagement ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
