Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a potential terrorist attack on commuters along the Magami–Hannutara–Dansadau Road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, after discovering and neutralising improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted along the route.
The troops, acting on credible intelligence, secured the affected area and conducted a thorough search, during which they identified two locations where the explosive devices had been planted to cause harm to road users.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was subsequently deployed to the scene, successfully destroying one of the devices and safely recovering and rendering the other harmless.
Following the operation, the troops intensified patrols and surveillance along the road and adjoining areas to protect residents, ensure the safety of commuters and prevent further security threats.
Members of the public were urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious objects, movements or activities to the nearest security agency to support ongoing efforts to safeguard lives and property.
