The Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has commended security agencies for the successful rescue of 20 prospective corps members and another victim abducted in the South-East.
Marwa specifically praised the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies involved in the operation, describing the rescue as a victory for the nation and a demonstration of what coordinated, intelligence-driven operations can achieve.
“The safe return of these young Nigerians to their families is a testament to the courage, professionalism and unity of purpose of our security agencies,” Marwa said.
He noted that corps members represent an important segment of the country’s future, stressing that Nigeria has a responsibility to protect young people serving their fatherland.
“Our corps members are the nation’s best, serving their fatherland with hope and idealism. Nigeria owes them protection, and today our gallant men and women have delivered,” he added.
Marwa, a retired military officer, said it was important to draw public attention to successful security operations and commend personnel involved in such efforts.
He also cited recent rescue operations across the country, saying they had freed other victims of abduction and restored hope to affected families.
“Every life rescued is a triumph for our collective resolve. These operations show that criminals cannot outrun a determined and united security architecture,” he stated.
The NDLEA chairman assured sister security agencies of the agency’s continued support and cooperation, particularly in tackling the role of illicit drugs in violent crime, kidnapping and banditry.
“Where drugs flow, insecurity thrives. That is why the NDLEA will keep working with sister agencies to dismantle the networks that fund and fuel criminality, and we will deepen intelligence-sharing and joint operations,” Marwa said.
He urged security agencies to sustain the momentum against criminal elements and called on Nigerians to support the security forces by providing timely and credible information.
Marwa also wished the rescued corps members a speedy recovery and successful reunion with their families.
