The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations against criminal elements after one of its helicopters made a precautionary landing approximately 10 nautical miles from the airfield following a successful combat mission.
According to an official statement signed by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the pilot, while returning to base after the mission, exercised professional discretion to conduct the precautionary landing in line with established operational and safety procedures following combat missions.
The NAF said the helicopter subsequently returned to base, adding that the development did not detract from the successful outcome of the mission.
The service maintained that its operations remain focused on sustaining pressure on criminal elements, providing close air support to surface forces and protecting communities through coordinated air and ground operations.
It said the successful mission underscored the NAF’s continued resolve to deny criminal elements freedom of action and support ongoing efforts to restore safety and security to affected communities.
The NAF further reiterated its commitment to maintaining operational effectiveness while prioritising the safety of its personnel and the successful execution of assigned missions.
