Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued five abducted persons, including a mother and her infant, in Katsina State and recovered a large herd of rustled livestock in Sokoto State during separate intelligence-led operations.
In Katsina State, troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA acted on timely information about the movement of terrorists around the Madaci Forest area of Sabuwa Local Government Area.
The troops swiftly mobilised and intercepted the criminal elements through tactical manoeuvres, disrupting their activities and securing the release of five female victims.
The rescued victims comprised a mother and her infant, alongside three other minors and young adults, who were originally from Danja and Funtua Local Government Areas.
The victims were safely handed over to the Chairman of Bakori Local Government Area, Hon. Abubakar Musa, for reunification with their families.
The troops have continued aggressive patrols in the area to dominate the terrain and deny criminal elements freedom of movement.
Meanwhile, in Sokoto State, troops of the 248 Reconnaissance Battalion repelled a terrorist attack in Badiya Village, Shagari Local Government Area.
Acting on reliable intelligence about suspicious movements in the area, the troops engaged the hostile elements with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat into the surrounding terrain.
The terrorists subsequently abandoned a large herd of rustled livestock, which was recovered by the troops.
The animals were later returned to their rightful owners during a brief ceremony facilitated by the Chairman of Shagari Local Government Area and the local District Head.
The operations demonstrate the importance of timely intelligence and collaboration with local communities in enabling security forces to respond to threats, rescue vulnerable persons and recover property from criminal elements.
