The Nigerian Navy and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intensified efforts against illicit drug trafficking with a joint operation that disrupted illegal drug activities across parts of Warri, Delta State, leading to the arrest of a suspect and the seizure of assorted narcotics.
According to an official signed statement by the Director of Naval Information, Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the operation was carried out by personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) DELTA in collaboration with NDLEA operatives as part of sustained efforts to sanitize the Nigerian Navy’s area of operation and deny criminal elements the freedom to traffic and distribute illicit substances.
The statement disclosed that the joint team conducted coordinated raids in the Urchie, Uvwiamuge, Orthokpor and Usiefrun axes of Warri. The operation resulted in the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of various illicit substances, including Molly, Cannabis and Skuruchi, dealing a significant blow to the local drug distribution network.
According to the statement, the operation highlights the growing synergy between the Nigerian Navy and the NDLEA in tackling the link between illicit drug trafficking and other forms of criminality that threaten public safety and national security.
The Nigerian Navy reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration and sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at denying criminal elements the operational space to engage in activities that undermine peace, security and lawful economic activities within its area of responsibility.
