The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, has donated two buses to members of staff of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) as part of efforts to enhance staff welfare and ease transportation challenges.

According to an official statement signed by the Head, Information and Public Relations, OSGF, Chris Ugwuegbulam, the buses were presented during a ceremony held on Friday at the OSGF headquarters in Abuja. The Permanent Secretary, General Services Office (GSO), Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni, represented the SGF at the event.

Speaking on behalf of Senator Akume, Dr. Kana described the donation as a demonstration of the SGF’s fatherly love, care and appreciation for members of staff, noting that the gesture reflects his commitment to their welfare and motivation.

The SGF said the donation was intended to address transportation challenges faced by staff while improving morale and productivity within the Office. He described staff as the engine room of government and stressed the importance of supporting their well-being in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“This is my own little way of showing love and appreciation to you all for your dedication, loyalty and hard work in service to our nation. I encourage you to continue to give your best in the discharge of your duties,” Senator Akume said.

He also urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the buses and ensure they are properly maintained for the collective benefit of all staff.

Responding on behalf of the workforce, the Chairman of the Joint Council Union, Comrade Paul Idowu, expressed appreciation to the SGF, describing the donation as unprecedented and a reflection of Senator Akume’s fatherly disposition and people-oriented leadership.

He assured the SGF that staff would reciprocate the gesture with greater commitment, diligence and patriotism in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The presentation ceremony was attended by top management staff of the OSGF as well as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Benue State, led by the State Chairman, Mr. Austin Agada.
