The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has described the party’s sweeping victory in the Ekiti State Governorship Election and its strong performance in recent bye-elections across the country as a clear endorsement of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC’s governance agenda.

In an official signed statement, the Special Adviser to the National Chairman of APC (Media and Information Strategy), Abimbola Tooki, disclosed that Prof. Yilwatda said the election outcomes demonstrate Nigerians’ growing confidence in the reforms being implemented by the APC-led government to reposition the country for sustainable growth, economic stability and national development.

According to the APC National Chairman, the victories recorded by the party across the country reflect public appreciation of responsible governance, infrastructure development, economic restructuring and institutional reforms aimed at securing long-term prosperity for Nigerians.

“The overwhelming victory recorded by our great party in Ekiti State and our remarkable success in the bye-elections across the country represent a powerful endorsement of the APC’s governance philosophy. These results affirm that Nigerians appreciate leadership that prioritises development, accountability, stability and the welfare of the people,” he stated.

Prof. Yilwatda said the re-election of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in Ekiti State underscores the electoral value of performance-driven leadership, noting that the governor’s administration has earned the trust of the electorate through prudent resource management, inclusive governance and visible developmental achievements.

“The people of Ekiti State have once again demonstrated that performance remains the most potent campaign message in democratic politics. Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s resounding re-election is a reward for visionary leadership, inclusive governance, prudent management of resources and visible developmental achievements across the state,” he said.

Governor Oyebanji secured a commanding victory in the governorship election, while the APC also emerged victorious in five of the six bye-elections conducted across different states of the federation.

The APC chairman noted that the Ekiti election has become a reference point for performance-based governance, arguing that citizens are increasingly rewarding governments that deliver tangible improvements in critical sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, security and social development.

“The Ekiti election has become a national reference point. It confirms that when governments deliver tangible results in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, youth empowerment, security and social development, citizens respond with renewed trust and overwhelming electoral support,” he stated.

Prof. Yilwatda further maintained that the outcome sends a strong signal that governance and service delivery remain the most reliable foundations for political legitimacy and public trust.

Describing Ekiti State as one of the leading examples of effective governance in contemporary Nigeria, he cited investments in road infrastructure, rural development, healthcare, agriculture, workers’ welfare, human capital development and ease of doing business as key factors behind the administration’s success.

He added that Governor Oyebanji’s ability to build broad political consensus while maintaining a strong focus on development has contributed significantly to stability and progress within the state.

“Ekiti today stands as a shining example of how APC governments are translating public trust into measurable development outcomes. The state’s progress under Governor Oyebanji provides a practical demonstration of our party’s commitment to people-centred governance,” he said.

Prof. Yilwatda also linked the electoral victories to the broader national reforms being implemented by President Tinubu, describing them as evidence of increasing public understanding and acceptance of policies designed to strengthen Nigeria’s economic future.

“Despite inheriting deep structural challenges, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated courage and vision in implementing reforms that are necessary for Nigeria’s long-term prosperity. The confidence reposed in our party by voters across the country indicates growing public understanding and appreciation of these reforms and their future benefits,” he stated.

He stressed that the victories should be seen not merely as political successes but as validation of a governance philosophy anchored on bold leadership, responsible decision-making and sustainable development.

The APC National Chairman congratulated President Tinubu, Governor Oyebanji, APC leaders and members across the country, as well as all candidates who emerged victorious in the bye-elections. He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and the people of Ekiti State for the peaceful conduct of the election.

Prof. Yilwatda assured Nigerians that the APC remains committed to delivering impactful governance, deepening democratic dividends and advancing policies aimed at building a stronger, more prosperous and united nation.

“Our message to Nigerians is simple: we have heard your voices, we appreciate your confidence and we shall continue to justify the trust you have placed in our party through impactful governance, economic renewal and inclusive national development,” he said.
