Troops of Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have recorded significant operational successes across the North-East, thwarting coordinated terrorist attacks, rescuing abducted civilians, arresting suspected terrorist collaborators, and disrupting insurgent logistics networks in a series of operations conducted between June 11 and 12, 2026.
According to an official signed statement by the Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Haruna M. Sani, the operations underscored the military’s sustained efforts to dismantle Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorist networks while safeguarding communities across the theatre of operations.
The statement disclosed that troops of Sector 2, while conducting fighting and perimeter clearance patrols around the Amuda general area on June 11, rescued three abducted children identified as Ali Usman, 15, Umar Ibrahim Abubakar, 15, and Fatima Abubakar, 12.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the children escaped from terrorist enclaves at Saha and Chinene in the Mandara Mountains following sustained military offensives against insurgent strongholds. Following profiling and documentation, the rescued children were reunited with community leaders in Ngoshe.
In a related development, troops of Sector 3 on June 12 successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt along the Damasak-Gubio Main Supply Route and rescued six civilians abandoned by fleeing terrorists after an aggressive pursuit around the Kareto area.
The statement further revealed that troops of 68 Battalion at Mallam Fatori ambushed suspected ISWAP reconnaissance elements and recovered an AK-47 rifle with a loaded magazine containing 31 rounds of ammunition.
Similarly, troops of Sector 3 operating at Check Point 61 intercepted 11 suspects travelling in two civilian vehicles under suspicious circumstances. Preliminary investigations linked the suspects to efforts aimed at recovering vehicles belonging to known terrorist logistics collaborators previously sighted supporting insurgent activities around Ali Sheriffti.
In another operation, troops of Sector 2 at Mandaragirau arrested a suspected terrorist logistics courier identified as Malahi Liman Muhammad along the Mandaragirau-Sabon Gari axis. Recovered items included herbicides, blankets, salt, food supplies, mobile phones, and other materials suspected to be destined for terrorist camps.
The statement noted that the suspects are currently undergoing further investigation.
Meanwhile, troops of Sector 1 demonstrated resilience and combat superiority when heavily armed Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists launched a coordinated three-pronged attack against troops at the COP Bridge location in the early hours of June 12.
The terrorists reportedly attacked from the Wurge, Manawaji, and Kinuba axes using four gun trucks and several motorcycles. However, the assault was decisively repelled by troops with the support of timely artillery and mortar fire missions.
According to the statement, the terrorists were forced to retreat in disarray, abandoning large quantities of combat equipment. Follow-up exploitation operations along the terrorists’ withdrawal routes led to the recovery of three Rocket Propelled Grenade launchers, seven High Explosive Anti-Tank rounds, and other unexploded ordnance.
Ground traces, including bloodstains and body drag marks, indicated that the terrorists suffered significant casualties during the failed attack.
The military, however, confirmed that one soldier sustained injuries from RPG fragments and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Lieutenant Colonel Sani stated that the latest operational successes highlight the effectiveness of OPHK’s intelligence-driven campaign and sustained offensive operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement and protecting civilian populations.
He added that the cumulative impact of aggressive patrols, precision engagements, intelligence exploitation, and sustained ground offensives continues to weaken terrorist capabilities, disrupt their logistics architecture, and force them into increasingly desperate but unsuccessful attacks.
The Military High Command commended the courage, professionalism, and dedication of the troops and reassured the public that Operation HADIN KAI remains firmly in control of the operational environment and committed to restoring lasting peace, security, and stability across the North-East.
