The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has approved the promotion of 17,952 junior police officers across the Nigeria Police Force in a move aimed at enhancing personnel welfare, boosting morale, and rewarding diligence, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
According to an official signed statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the promotion exercise cuts across Commands and Formations nationwide and involves the elevation of 165 Sergeants to the rank of Inspector, 73 Corporals to the rank of Sergeant, and 17,714 Constables to the rank of Corporal.
The statement noted that the large-scale promotion reflects the commitment of the Police leadership to improving career progression and strengthening institutional capacity within the Force.
IGP Disu described timely promotion as a critical component of the Nigeria Police Force’s human resource management strategy, emphasizing that it remains a vital tool for motivating officers and encouraging them to remain dedicated to the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
He further stated that the advancement of deserving personnel underscores the commitment of the current Police administration to merit, professionalism, institutional development, and the continuous improvement of service delivery.
Congratulating the newly promoted officers, the Inspector-General of Police urged them to view their elevation as a call to greater responsibility, discipline, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
He charged them to uphold the core values of the Nigeria Police Force while carrying out their responsibilities with integrity, respect for human rights, and unwavering commitment to the rule of law.
The statement reaffirmed that the Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting excellence, rewarding hard work, and strengthening its institutional framework in line with global best practices in policing.
